Hello Collectors! Auction 120 will be held on Thursday, January 28th, 2010. With the live auction starting at 7 pm at our office on Sargent Ave. Absentee bids and phone inquires MUST be made before 5: 00 pm the day of the sale. The office will be closed to the public at 5 pm and re-opened at 6:15 pm for viewing and registration.

 

Please remember that we ask for NO telephone enquires on ‘how you did’ till at least the following Monday after the sale, the Prices Realized are posted on-line Friday afternoon, with High bidders number and the amount sold for.

 

As a registered bidder, you can place bids by, mail, fax, email. We will NO LONGER be accepting bids over the phone, NO EXCEPTIONS.  If emailing in your bids, there is a cut and paste form on our web site (if you don’t know how to do this, just include the info that is on the postal bidding form (bidders #, name, address, payment method) in your message). Your bidders number can be found on your mailing envelope, if you are new to our auctions, you will be issued a number once a bid is placed.

 

You can find the current bid of any item by contacting Wayne or Jaime, by phone or email before the cut off time (5pm Thursday).  All the items pictured in the catalogue can be found on our website in colour, as well as requested photo’s. If you would like a photo scanned please request a picture no later than January 21st.

A $5.00 (CDN funds) fee will be charged to those who wish to place a bid(s) in this auction who do not have a subscription with us. Our office cat, Fritz, passed away on December 15th. He was the “boss” here for over 14 years. He is already greatly missed.

A.P.C., bar BOMB & MINE CLEARANCE 1945-56.  Couple small edge nicks and slight wear to high points, replaced ribbon.  Bar show wear to the silver coating on the high details of the wording, showing the light bronze base metal, looks nice.  SCARCE bar.  ($500-600) (1)

A9.  1952 – 2002 ELIZABETH GOLD MEDAL.  Gold plated, Queens Crown over Maple Leaf with ER on it and dates 1952 2002 CANADA on one side and Crown Head and words QUEEN OF CANADA REINE DU CANADA, with ribbon.  Excellent.  ($30-40) (1)

B4.  COLLAR BADGE LOT.  Lot of 5.  MM172, 57th REGIMENT PETERBOROUGH RANGERS.  2 – orange brass, Beavers facing to left, LVII, voided centre, SCULLY maker marked, one has a small part of the right side of the Crown which hasn’t been trimmed.  3 – two - dull antique gold brass, Beavers facing to right, 2 BN CEF, 93RD 247BN QUIS SEPARABIT banner,  voided centre, lugs and one same description, betters stamping, Beaver facing to left, no lugs, this type quite hard to find and must have been in used shortly after WW1.  Nice.  ($40-50) (5)

C3.  CEF COLLAR BADGE LOT.  Lot of 4.  All singles.  198B, CANADIAN BUFFS, TORONTO, brass, Dragon alone, facing right, lugs, J.R. GAUNT MONTREAL disk on back.  E226, MANITOBA, Men of the North, dull copper bronze, lugs replaced, lots of solder used,  Bear facing to left.  E232, SASKATCHEWAN, darkened brass,  pin back fastener, Cat head facing left, excellent.  E255, TORONTO, Queens Own Rifles, dull gold coated, excellent.  ($60-70) (4)

 

C4.  1916 PATTERN PACK.  Age faded heavy canvas, light gray in color, with 2 front straps, that fastener flap closed, brass fitting.  2 web loops on top flap.  Heavy brown leather X back straps, with metal buckles, with small piece of end of one strap cut off, when measured with other appox. 1” missing.  Attached to the leather straps by the buckle a leather strap, 9 ½” long on one and 4” long on other .  These two straps attached to leather tabs at the bottom, of course broken off  but would be proper length for the two straps that where present.  Pack has a couple small wear holes and one of the front flap straps has wear fraying.  C Broad arrow viable on inside of flap.  Shows heavy use but still an original 1916 patter pack.  ($50-75) (1)

 

C5.  GENERAL SERVICE PLAQUE.  Wooden shield shape plaque, 5” high by 4” wide, with a CEF, General Service Cap and two collars attached.  Badge is the Kings Crown over CANADA banner on a Maple Leaf.  Dull copper bronze.  Nice badges and nicely made.  ($15-20) (1)

 

*C6.  245th BATTALION RECRUITING PIN.  BIRKS, STERLING marked pin, with likeness of the 245th, Flaming Grenade, as worn by the Canadian Grenadier Guards, of MONTREAL over a circle, 22mm across,  with words I SECURED A RECRUIT FOR THIS . BATTALION . and number 245 in centre.  Pin back.  SCARCE PIN.  ($75-100) (1)

 

*C7.  E14 CAP BADGE.  ROYAL MONTREAL REGIMENT, dark bronze/brass, lugs.  No Dot under T, excellent well made badge.  ($30-40) (1)

 

C8.  SWEETHEART PIN LOT.  Lot of 3.  All collar badge size.  These all are the type that a manufacturer used silver and gold wash to coat collar badges, quite nice effect.  1 – E45, MANITOBA, dark silver coated Maple Leaf with gold wash ob design and banner, pin back, excellent.  1 – E28, NORTH WEST, Regina, dull silver wash on Maple leaf and gold wash on overlay, some dulling to high spost of overlay, mounted on an 2” long pin fastener, nice.  1 – 61st Battalion, WINNIPEG, dull silver wash on Maple Leaf and dull gold wash on overlay, showing wear and gold somewhat faded, no fastener.  Nice pieces.  ($50-75) (3)

 

*C9.  VETERANS PIN.  Small, STERLING Marked pin, Kings Crown over letter C with 4 blue enamel Service Bars inside C, pin back.  Nice.  ($15-20) (1)

 

C10.  SWEETHEART PIN LOT.  Lot of 3.  2 – same design, small General Service Cap buttons, 9mm across, CANADA over Circle motto banner with Maple leaf centres with WW1 Style General Service Maple leaf with Kings Crown over CANADA banner, 1 ½” wide b y ¾” high, one dark brass and one gold plated, both pin back, well made.  1 – STERLING marked, two Shamrocks on either side of a Horse Shoe which is attach and a Maple Leaf attached two horse show, pin back, 1 ¼” wide  y ¾” high, well made pin.  ($30-40) (3)

 

*C11.  SWEETHEART PIN.  67th Battery, Saskatchewan, ROYAL CANADIAN ARTILLERY, dull gold coated Kings Crown Gun design, with number 67 stamped under the CANADA banner.  Blue enamel backing to the banners, pin back, 1 1/8” x 1 ¼” wide.  Nicely made pin.  ($20-25) (1)

 

*C12.  SWEETHEART PIN.  Silver coated, with RHINESTONES.  The crest shape is the likeness of the 15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders of Toronto, Babins E15B design, pin back, 1 18” wide by 1 5/16” high.  All stones present.  Well made piece.  ($20-25) (1)

RETURNED FROM ACTIVE SERVICE . on outside banner and Raising Sun Crest design over A.I.F..  Shows some wear to high points but all details clear.  Lugs, horizontal, words AUSTRAL ENGV C PERT in raised letters and number 122948 stamped, on back.  Nice pin.  ($20-25) (1)

 

*F2.  SWEETHEART PIN.  Sterling Silver marked, GC and Lion/Cat head/h, pin back.  Victorian Crown over 7 point, rayed Star with buckled centre circle banner with words OMNIA  AUDAX on it and XX in centre, attached to a separate Horse Shoe design.  The XX and motto used by the LANCASHIRE FUSILIERS.  1 ¼” x 1 ¼”.  Well made and early pin.  ($30-40) (1)

 

*F3.  NOT SURE WHAT LOT.  Lot of 2. Large, thin silver metal, Prince of Wales plumes, with attached Crown, pin back fasteners, 2 ½” wide by 2 ¾” high.  Nicely made but as stated thin metal and a thin metal.  Have two of these so will picture one but you get two.  ($40-50) (2)

 

 

OTHER COUNTRIES INSIGNIA….

 

G1.  USA PIN LOT.  Lot of 4.  1 – brass, Moorish Archway type design over a rectangle base, with large letter A and 5 over bottom, over Harbor/City scene over banner with words, NAPLE/ TO LIBERATOR/ over OCT. 1st 1943.  pin back, 30mm high by 24mm wide.  Issued by or to the US 5th ARMY.  This pin in the shape of the 5th Army crest.  1 – copper/bronze.  Not sure what this is, a Veterans piece I would say.  Spread winged Eagle over Crossed Cannon barrels with a Leaf circle wreath on cannons and a inside circle  banner with words GRATIA . DEI. SERVATUS MDCCCLXXXI on it and letters VS, intertwined on sun rays centre.  On back a Coat of Arms Crest with a top banner with PILII VETE? WORUM (I think hard to make out) over spread winged Eagle with two soldier, look like Navy and Army, early civil war type uniforms, with a shield in centre with Crossed Swords on it with Sun rise over a bottom Latin motto type thing, and words PATENTED NOV 20 – 1888.  Has a ring for ribbon attached approx. ½” down from top on back.  Heavy cast, 36mm high by 33mm  wide.  2 – DI, colored enamel, one with red Bird with up swept wings over shield with Fist holding lighting bolts in gold on blue enamel over bottom banner with words PREPARE FOR COMBAT, pin back, catch for pin missing, shows some age dulling and one shield shape withy flat top/side and wavy bottom, with 11 Star on blue top banner over red Fleur de lie, outlined in gold on white enamel over bottom banner with words, FIRST REGIMENT OF FIRST STATE, pin back, also show slight age dulling.  Nice piece.  ($40-50) (4)

       The following 18 Lots are from the estate of one Martin M. THERRIAULT.  There appears to be two members of this family MM and J C, not sure the relationship.  Also the last few items I’m not sure the connection.  Also see Lots L1 & 2, for related items. 

 

H1.  KIT BAG.  Large, heavy tan canvas, marked SP, in circle 1952, and AF, on inside and in white paint on surface, ZG6344 2/LT. J C THERRIAULT -3- GDS CDSV, shows age dulling and dull stains and some very small holes, web type carrying strap, adjustable and web handle, brass oval eyelets and brass loop to go in eyelets.   ($20-25) (1)

 

H2. 1937  WEBBING.  Small pack, OFFICER’S,  tan canvas, with green cloth inside divider, and two snap button front pockets, marked C Broad Arrow and M S & U Ltd 1942 on inside flap, single front fastening strap, and two brass buckles and cross strap on back.  Near mint.  ($30-40) (1)

 

H3.  1937 WEBBING.  Large pack, OFFICER’S, dull brown canvas, with two buckles straps down front from flap and two wide buckles straps with small side straps on top back, double carrying straps on the back from the two side buckles at top and two buckles on bottom.  Shows age darkening and some fraying to the straps, but still in quite good condition.  Has inside heavy cardboard liner that is original to pack.  ($30-40) (1)

 

H4.  LEATHER SAM BROWNE.   Brown leather belt and Cross strap.  Brass fittings, leather shows age darkening and a little stiff but should be able to bring back.   ($30-40) (1)

 

H5.  WAIST BELT LOT.  Lot of 2.  Both 44” long, brass fittings, one light tan webbing, marked MS & U Ltd 1941, C broad Arrow, number 9 in rectangle box and initials M T, showing some age but still quite nice.  The second one is marked BAG CRAFT LTD 1945 A029?  Letter L in rectangle box, this is in dull green tan webbing, and is the type with the slits on the back for fittings the end fasteners to, for adjusting, also show age dulling but still nice.  Both have two brass buckled tab in centre.

H7.  KIT BAG.  WW2 Large bag, dull green tan canvas, with couple repaired holes, brass eyelet top, marked inside, 15OZ, and in white paint on front, MARTIN M. THERRIAULT, CAPT.  5000293, with black painted line through it on side and bottom and W52 in red paint on side and bottom.  Show heavy use and couple repairs as mentioned.  ($25-30) (1)

 

H8.  KIT BAG LOT.  Lot of 2.  Both small type, one dark tan canvas, marked MARTIN M. THERRIAULT CAPT. In black paint, this has two hole repairs, with brass eyelets, with D fastener handle, marked HUGH CARSON COMPANY – LTD – OTTAWA CANADA 1940 on inside, shows some age dulling but still quite nice except for mentioned repairs.  Second one is light aged tan canvas, marked ZG 6349 2/Lt. J C THERRIAULT – 3 – CDN GDS,  5 repairs to rips, brass top eyelets, no marks inside that I can see.  Not sure who JC is maybe son of Martin, Cdn Guards markings would indicate early 1960s issue.  ($25-30) (2)

 

H9.  CANTEEN.  Dull tan webbing straps, marked C Broad Arrow and ZL & T Ltd. 1940, brass fitting, dull gray brown felt cover, with many moth holes, blue enamel canteen with proper cork and string.  ($20-25) (1)

 

H10.  WAIST BELT.   Tan webbing, 34” long, brass fittings, 1 ½” wide, marked J.R. C?? LTD/1940 C broad arrow, and in ink MAJOR MARTIN THERRIAULT, show slight age dulling but still nice.  ($20-25) (1)

 

H11.  HANDKERCHIEF.  Light tan, square, approx. 15” x 15”, shows age and some dark stains.

H12.  BATTLEDRESS TUNIC.  5, hidden buttoned front, open collar, buttoned shoulder straps, dull green wool, two buttoned front flapped pockets, white metal thin, buckled bottom strap, single hidden buttoned sleeve end, no insignia. Two inside slit pockets.   In black ink on inside word CADET 8 and maker stamp, H.Z.4 ? over JAN 19?2 (Fifty I would say) over II in oval stamp.  Shows some age but still quite nice. Small size.   ($30-40) (1)

 

H13.  BATTLEDRESS TUNIC.  Same general description as above.  Heavy dark green tan wool, 5 button, buttoned flapped pockets and sleeve end and two inside slit pockets.  This one stamped on inside, 700 M.E. 1950 4 in a circle stamp.  Has a wider white metal buckle, than above.  Another nice early, I would say Cadet issue tunic.  Small size.   ($30-40) (1)

 

H14.  OFFICER’S GREAT COAT.  Dull green heavy fine wool, with dull green silk like lining, with Brass General Service, Kings Crown, Maple leaf centre, General Service buttons.  Three dull brass, with colored enamel, rank Pips on  each shoulder boards.  On each sleeve, Light tan CANADA on dull brown cotton type backing, Officer quality, over HEAD QUARTERS LONDON cloth flashes, Dull thick thread MAPLE LEAF on black with thick thread outer circle border.  Excellent quality and condition.  3 button back strap.  ($50-75) (1)

 

H15.  BREN GUN CLIP POUCH LOT.  Lot of 2.  Two different lengths, one – 8 ½” long, light tan colored dull green Blancoed, marked H 43030 AC? DIFFER in ink on back and maker marked, ZL & T LTD. 1940 .  Other, 9” tall, marked MARK III on back and maker M.L.& s Ltd. 1943 Arrow, British issue, also dull green Blancoed colored.  Both show use and age dulling.  ($20-25) (2)

 

H16.  GAS MASK BAG.  Light tan canvas, with two brass snap fasteners flap and marked W C C 0 3 over 1943 with 34 and a word I cannot make out in side circle banner, also C Broad Arrow.  Initials in blue paint on front, F C L.  Inside snap small pouch.  Dull brown woven carrying straps, light wool, brass fittings.  Excellent.  ($25-30) (1)

 

H17.  CANADIAN FORCE GREENS UNIFORM.  Tunic and Hat.  Both tag and dated 1981.  Hat size 7 3/8 and tunic size 7038,  Hat has the ADMINISTRATION BRANCH enamel and gold Branch badge attached.  Tunic has gold, Lion holding Maple Leaf General Service buttons,  with CANADA over OSONS, Winged Dagger design over CPL ranks, 2 V’s, in yellow on black with the OSONS dagger being white, detailed in black.  Excellent condition.  ($30-40) (2)

 

H18.  AMMUNITION POUCH.  Dull tan green webbing, with snap fastener flap, marked, Z.L. & T LTD. 1940, C broad arrow.  Nice.  ($15-20) (1)

 

H19.  CLOTH LOT.  Lot of 9.  5 – Post War, ARTILLERY, all red on black, two – 10 FD, one bright red letters, 11mm high letters and other dark red, 10mm high with3/4” between number and letters, on dark blue felt.  3 – 53 FD, one 9mm high letters, 5/8” between number and letters and 0ne 8mm high letters, just about joined between numbers and letters and one 53 FD REGT, 8mm high letters, all dull red on back.  1 – Shoulder flash, ROYAL CANADIAN over SEA CADETS, over Maple Leaf, white on black, shows age dulling.  1 – Un cut, WW2 issue, CANADA, dull tan on light green khaki.  2 – one ROYAL CANADIAN over ARMY CADETS, yellow on dull tan felt and other ROYAL CANADIAN ARMY over CADETS, yellow on green with edge trim.  ($20-25) (9)

 

H20.  BOY SCOUTS SHIRT.  Dark green wool, with two buttoned flapped pockets, 6 button front, buttoned shoulder flaps.  All button brown bakelite,  with BOY SCOUTS CANADA BE PREPARED  on them.  Has two white ribbon sewn onto the left pocket, vertical.  Has banner with words BOY SCOUTS . CANADA, in red thick thread on green above the right pocket.  Tagged, OFFICIAL DESIGN FROM THE STORES DEPARTMENT, THE BOY SCOUTS ASSOCIATION OTTAWA – CANADA NAM: TROUP.  Shows some age dulling but nice heavy well made shirt.  ($20-25) (1)  

 

H21.  CANADIAN CIVIL DEFENCE BACKPACK.  Light green cotton type material, two front straps on flap, with black painted metal tabs/buckles.  Painted on circle decal, 5 ¼” across in yellow with a painted shield design, top banner CANADA over C D intertwined in blue on the yellow.  Decal shows wear but detail still visible, on flap.  .  Words FIRST AID, in blue, 1” high letters, on body of pouch.  Two back tabs for attaching carrying straps, no straps.  Small tab on bottom which attaches with snap fastener.  2 side pouches with snap flaps.  Inside partitioned in two parts.  ($25-30) (1)

 

H22.  1854 KNAPSACK.  See page 16, Jack L. SUMMERS book, TANGLED WEB, for pictures and description.  Wooden frame, 12” high, 15” wide, 4” deep, with black coated heavy white canvas body.  When flap opened, there are three, ¾” wide buff leather straps, buckled with single prong metal buckle, running from side to side.  There is a single ¾” strap attached to the base of the inside of the flap and buckled on the top of the inside flap running from top to bottom.  Stamped on the inside of the flap, a circle design with, hard to make out letters but what I can make out, A. R??? & ?? ???RANCE MILL ? LO? CO. and inside this ? & ? over 188?, (Vendors say 1885 but my eyes can’t see the 5),  also a stamp, W Broad Arrow D over 1.  These are original  stamps and show age.  There are two straps, across bottom to hold flap closed, single prone metal buckle.  There are buff leather Arm straps, fitted through a round wooden strut ( In the book Jack states that this strut added 1856) and attached with hook & eye type brass fasteners at the bottom.  There is a single 1 ¼” wide strap, which runs down the back of the pack and fastens with a single prong, brass buckle at the base.  The arms straps are marked W D Broad Arrow in two places.  The black coating is in excellent condition for age as is the overall pack.  Shows slight stiffening with age but still quite flexible.  A Excellent, Very RARE knapsack.  ($400-500) (1)

 

H23.  1859 CARTRIDGE POUCH.  See page 10, Figure 14, SUMMERS book, TANGLED WEBB.  Heavy black leather outside flap, attached to brass stud with a buff leather tab.  The metal single prong buckles on front, with above brass stud between, Figure C, Fig. 16 page 11.  Two sewn on  back flaps for running attaching straps through.  When top flap opens to an inside flap, with has a leather slip tab flap on a pouch on top of flap (Fig 13, page 9) and when this flap opened 5 part metal cartridge container.  Stamped on the inside of the top flap, in a oval,  words I can’t make out over C & M over 1860 and a number 17, Possible 17th LEVIS Regiment,  over 370 also a W Broad Arrow D stamp, all on the leather.  Heavy leather and shows a little age stiffening but still quite pliable.  An excellent piece of early Webbing.  ($200-250) (1)

 

H24.  1860 CAP POUCH.  White buff leather, looks like it has been white coated recently.  Shown page 12, SUMMER BOOK, TANGLE WEB, 4” x 3’, with the slanted belt loop.  Brass stud flap.  Very well made and there is a faint W Broad Arrow D stamp and a maker name stamping in an oval.  Excellent condition and look almost new but not sure.  ($100-125) (1)

 

H25.  1861 WAIST BELT, BALL BAG, BAYONET FROG, WITH BAYONET.  White buff belt,  1862 pattern, with brass single prong size adjustment buckle, with a leather slip loop on the metal tab end of the buckle.  The buckle is the Waist belt two piece type, brass, with brown coating and Victorian Crown on tab end.  Only stamp I can see are words L/ROSS over CAM 12.  SUMMERS Book, page 13, Fig. 21.   It has the bayonet frog, Fig 23 type a, no markings.  Also has a, BALL BAG, page 30, Fig. 45, with the brass stud flap holder and belt loop holder.  Stamped under the flap, Broad Arrows pointing at each other, with Broad arrow over WD and stamped in leather number 48 over H over 197, possible issued to 48th Highlanders.  The bayonet is the SNIDER ENFIELD, triangle bayonet, marked E over ?? over 1/74  over 55 and 89 and ??, excellent condition, with black leather scabbard with brass fittings, showing age but still quite nice.  Nice complete period piece.  ($300-400) (1)

 

H26.  WW2 GAS COAT.  3 stud fasteners, front, front snap fastener neck tab.  Two brown web straps and cord.  Marked with a Broad Arrow over W? 19 - 194? Over 3 Stars.  Camo design, treated fiber type material with sleeve.  No tears and still quite flexible.  ($50-75) (1)

 

H27.  WEDGE HAT.  Red fine wool top with dark blue side and front tab, two brass, Kings Crown Coat of arms buttons to front.  Side flaps held to red body with small hooks in metal eyelets.  Black cotton lining, with brown velvet type sweat band.  This is an Other ranks issue, no gold braid.  Excellent condition.  Nice hat.  ($75-100) (1)

 

H28.  LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN CHAIN MAIL PAIR.  Pair of the Cavalry issue shoulder chain mail, 7 ½” from end to point.  Each has a gold QUEEN’S CROWN rank pip, 1” x 1”, high quality and three gold plated Rank pips, with LF in the centre, 1” x 1”.  Very nice piece.  ($25-30) (2)

M1.   CANADIAN SHIPS PLAQUE.  Plaster of Paris ships plaque, Nautical Crown over banner with word PROTECTEUR on it over a Knights Head Helmet in a rope border, colored.  Wooden base is same shape as plaque, 6 ½” x 5 ½”.  Nicely made and only showing a slight wear to gold on the rope border in high places.  ($15-20) (1)

 

M2.  PEWTER MUG.  Glass bottom pewter mug, with handle, 5” tall.  Engraved on it, KING’S Crown PPCLI Badge crest, 1 ¼” high over words LT. M.F. THURGOOD over CURRIE BKS.  Shows age darkening, several dents and heavy use, which is appropriate for a PPCLI piece.  Nice named piece.  MINIMUM $ 15.00.

 

M3.  CANADIAN CHAPLAIN CORPS NECK CHAIN.  Heavy gold plated neck chain, 18 long, with a bright gold plated 8 pointed Sun ray backing with a red and black enamel Canadian CHAPLAIN CORPS badge attached.  The arms are red enamel the words IN THIS SIGN CONQUER on a gold circle banner with a black enamel 4 armed, rounded end cross design centre, with gold plated inside Leaf wreath,  badge 1 3/8” wide, Star burst 2 ¼’ wide.  I would say fairly modern, with well made badge.  ($30-40) (1)

PIN LOT.  Lot of 6.  2 – celluloid type buttons, ¾” across, one with words WATER SAFETY BEGINNER and a Red Cross in red on white and other likeness of DOG and word SANDY, from Little Orphan Annie.  1 – City of Winnipeg Crest, heavy white metal maker marked ANDREW and pin back.  Top banner with WINNIPEG on  it and Buffalo on Shield over Latin Motto banner, 1 ½” high b y 1 ¼” across, well made pin .  1 – shield shape, gold with word PROVENCHER RIFLES & PISTOL ASSOCIATION on outside blue enamel banner and words EX DISCIPULO and AD ARTIFICEM  and Crossed Pistols and Rifle centre design, single screw post with nut, 1” high by 13/16” wide, nice.  1 – Silver, not hallmarked, shield shape, flat top curved in sides to point, with a Mountain and Sun Rise design on top and a Swords with 3 armed Cross design side and top handle and what look like a couple of EYES looking at each other on front.  Appears to be hand engraved, 1” x 1”, nicely done.  1 – dull brass, Moose Head over a oval base, with words HALIFAX CANADA’S GATEWAY on top banner and B. N1.  LUFTWAFFE  BACK PACK.  Dull gray/blue, heavy cotton type material, with black/brown leather straps.  Marked on back pad, SPRINGER & C? over BERLIN over 1940  and a name engraved, KUP??? Over GAB?? 34 or something like that, hard to make out.  Seems complete with all straps.  Several repaired with black thread, with all inside pouch.  Very nice piece.  ($75-100) (1)

 

N2.  TROUSERS.  Green/gray heavy wool.  Vendor advises 1936 pattern and he feels REPO.  Gray metal painted buttons, 4 sewn on holes.  5 button fly, slash side pockets, with single button.  Small watch slit pocket.  Single slash back pocket with button.  Back, two prong buckle, adjustment tabs.  8 buttons around the waist for braches and a slit at the back which has two button on either side.  Inside pockets and waist lining in heavy white cotton.  Only marks I can see are stamps, 81 over 110 and 82 over 100.  34” waist.  Heavy well made pants, look similar to Swedish pants I have seen.  On vendors advises will sell as repo.  ($30-40) (1)

 

N3.  RIBBON BAR LOT.  Lot of 8.  3 – single bar,  CROSS OF HONOR 1914-18, Hindenburg Cross, 1” x ¾” high, two with metal Crossed Swords on them, all pin back.  2 – WAR MERIT CROSS, 1” x ¾” high, one with metal Crossed Swords, pin back.  2 – 2 medal, one CROSS OF HONOR with metal Crossed Swords and WW1 IRON CROSS, 1 ¼” x ¾” high, pin back and one I can’t find what medals they are, one – thin white/black/white/red/white wide black and reverse and one – thin black/white red wide black and reverse, 1 ¼” by ¾” high, pin back.  1 – Long Service, blue woman’s bow, with attached gold and silver Army type Eagles, 1 ¼” wide by ½” high, pin back.  All show some age darkening but still nice lot.  Also a Repo dull Gray Button with SA type Eagle.  ($75-100) (8)

       THE NEXT LISTINGS ARE DOUG’S COLLECTION OF THE SCARLET & GOLD MAGAZINE.  This magazine was first published in 1919 by the Royal North West Mounted Police, later the ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE VETERAN’S Association.  They are a Wealth of information on the early days of the Force with articles and accounts of past deeds.  These are quite SCARCE, especially the earlier years.  They where mostly done on newspaper type paper so the early years are usual brittle and missing piece.
